Charles is such a cool guy, very detailed, and tells you the why of things and real life scenarios when teaching the techniques, safety skills, and equipment usage. When in open water, he guides you through everything and makes you feel safe even if you never dove before, swimming between corals, showing you really cool marine life, and taking pictures of you! I highly recommend taking the Open Water Course with him, and I can't wait to be back in Thailand to dive more and maybe doing the Advanced Course with the most experienced instructor in Phuket!

November 19, 2022From the moment my Wife and I contacted Charles at Kiwi divers to arrange 5 days with 15 dives we knew we were in safe hands. Both of us are experienced divers and know what bad looks like. We certainly were happy we found a safe, responsible and knowledgeable outfit. Charles met us at our hotel in the evening and took us to hire kit and sign up. Kit was well serviced and clean. The next morning transport to the comfortable and spacious dive boat took us effortlessly there and back. Once on the boat the operator was clear with instructions and safety was paramount. Breakfast , snacks and lunch onboard was better than some restaurants. Each dive was different with reefs, wrecks and wall dives. Diving is always subject to nature and unpredictable at times however Charles managed to tick all the must see for wildlife inc Reef sharks, Eagle Ray, Bamboo Shark and even pulled out a Leopard Shark from somewhere. The dive pace was suited to us with limits set and appropriate for experienced divers. Space and time was given to us during the dive and never put a fin wrong with guiding. During the surface intervals Charles always spent time with us discussing dive plans and adapting where needed. Charles was keen to answer any questions we had about Thailand, diving and equipment. My wife was interested in starting underwater photography and Charles was professional in taking time to explain equipment and requirements. Pricing for the diving and boat experience was exceptional value for money compared with live aboard prices with the benefit of an island experience. Thank you Charles and Kiwi divers. We have already recommended you and will return.

November 19, 2020Charles was fantastic. He taught us how to be safe while diving and took us on 6 amazing dives. He was clearly the most knowledgeable dive instructor on the boat and took us to all the great spots. We saw everything we could have wanted including sharks and a seahorse. Highly recommend for his expertise and awesome guidance.

I made with him open and advanced diving courses, 2 times beach diving and one more day for fun diving from the boat. During lessons Charles speak only about important things. He have more than 8000 divings experience. I recommend.

Got scuba certified the last few days with Charles and it was amazing!! I felt very safe the whole time and didn’t feel rushed on anything, felt I could take my time doing certain skills underwater. The dive boat we went on was awesome, got treated with the Phi Phi islands. Boat also provided excellent food. 12/10 experience, highly recommend KiwiDivers to anyone interested in diving or more advanced divers!!

February 19, 2024Super chuffed to now be SSI open water certified! Thanks Charles. Charles is very experienced, very knowledgeable of the dive sites across Phuket , an ex serviceman from the UK he has dived all over the world and been an instructor since 2000. With tips about where to go in middle America and California, he even found a missing WW2 plane in Loch Ness and offered closure to the families of the fatal accident decades after the fact. Very generous with his knowledge, and I was lucky enough to have him as my personal instructor when others wouldn’t have bothered with only one student. It’s the off season in phuket so many other instructors would wait until they could book multiple students on their dives. Now SSI open water certified, very confident, and having swum with leopard sharks, turtles, lion fish, and sighted many fish and corals I need to avoid to stay safe , I gotta say I can’t fault the training, detail, and knowledge I have is all down to the thorough and fun training of one very clever and talented Scottish fella. Completely unsteriotypically generous. (Sorry Charles had to remind you of the stingy Jock joke). Oh and special thanks to the boat crew , great food, friendly assistants, and awesome dive sites.

October 19, 2024Sally and I did a 3 day dive with Charles (9 dives all together) on Jan 2023. We dove 1:2 with Charles for two full days. On the third day anther diver joined us, but it still felt quite personal. Charles is very knowledgable (over 8000 dives!). He guided us well above and underwater, and offered invaluable technical advice on equalization, buoyancy, leg work and kicking, etc. On our first day he suggested that I use larger air-tanks, and provided me with 15 lbs tanks for days 2 & 3, which extend our dives to 50min+. The boat we used (SiroloDive) was well equipped, had great staff, and served great meals We were told by other divers that it is considered the best boat around. Charles is also a wonderful underwater photographers. The photos he sent us after the dive are wonderful momentos from our 3 fun underwater days in Phuket.
