Kiwidivers : Rebreather Diver Course
In this entry-level four day rebreather program you will learn to use Type R recreational rebreathers to a maximum of 18 meters/60 feet within no decompression limits.
Prerequisites:
- Open Water Diver and Enriched Air Diver certifications from any recognized agency.
- You must also be 18 years old and provide proof of 25 logged dives

- Day 1 – Classroom
- Day 2 – Pool
- Days 3-4: Boat diving
Rebreather Diver Course Summary:
Did you think rebreathers are just for technical diving? Think again because the latest rebreathers are lightweight, easy-transportable units that use sophisticated electronics to simplify their use. Rebreathers allow longer no decompression limits, reduced gas consumption and unmatched wildlife encounters. Now anyone can become a Rebreather Diver.
The Rebreather and Advanced Rebreather Diver courses use Type R units to introduce divers to rebreather diving within recreational dive limits. Type R rebreathers are electronically controlled and provide a back up for all the major systems and simplify training and use.
Recreational Rebreathers
The Poseidon Mk6 Discovery was the world’s first rebreather for recreational divers and the first to be approved by PADI as a Type-R recreational rebreather for Rebreather courses. It’s a fully closed, fully automated unit that will make you see diving in a different light.
The Poseidon is so simple and safe to operate that it can be used for entry-level rebreather diver training right out of the box. Because the unit has an open circuit (traditional scuba) alternate air system, the leading certification agencies have set the minimum prerequisite of a qualified entry level diver with some open circuit diving experience.
Kiwidivers : Advanced Rebreather Diver Course
Prerequisites:
- Open Water Diver and Rebreather Diver certifications (or qualifying certification from a recognized organization) on the Type R rebreather used in the course,
- Advanced Open Water Diver certification
- 30 logged dives
- 18 years old

The Advanced Rebreather Diver Course expands on the basic knowledge you have already acquired from your Rebreather Instructor and provides training to a maximum of 30 metres/98 feet (40 metres/130 feet if you have a Deep Diver certification), including carrying a bailout cylinder.
