PADI Tec 40 Course

As the entry point into PADI technical courses the Tec 40 provides a transition from recreational to technical diving. Although the use of full tech gear (doubles and wings or Sidemount) is preferred, it does allow modified use of recreational gear in some situations, provided the diver has two separate regulators, with one of the first stages fitted with a long hose.

The intended diving limit for a diver at this level is 40 meters with up to 10 minutes of non-accelerated decompression. They may use any EANx mix with up to 50% oxygen content or air. Kiwidiver has both sidemount technical equipment and sets of doubles with wings so you can choose which you prefer to do the course with.

PADI Tec 40 Course – Details:

The PADI Tec 40 course is run over 3 days and is ideal for somebody new to technical diving. The Tec 40 sub-course of the PADI Tec Diver course is a limited, entry-level technical diving program that bridges the gap between recreational diving and full technical deep decompression diving. Certified Tec 40 divers are qualified to make limited decompression dives using equipment that is marginally more extensive than that used in mainstream recreational diving.

The Tec 40 course consists of three knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions, and four training dives. The course is supported by state-of-the-art training material, including a core skills video and the PADI Tec Deep Diver manual. There is also a handout and knowledge reviews provided with the course.

Technical diving takes divers beyond the limits of recreational diving. In recreational diving, if something goes wrong, you can always make a direct ascent to the surface at a safe speed without the need to stop. In technical diving, you learn to use different equipment and practice different methodologies so that if you are in an environment where direct access to the surface due to overhead environment or decompression requirements is not possible, you can deal with emergencies until such time as you can access the surface.

Kiwidivers : PADI Tec 45 Course

PADI Tec 45 Course

As the second module in the full PADI Tec Deep Diver course, the Tec 45 course builds on the skills you learnt in Tec 40, and takes your training as a tec diver further and deeper. After successful completion of the DSAT Tec 45 course you’ll be able to conduct gas-switch extended no-decompression dives, decompression dives and accelerated decompression dives using air and enriched air to a depth of 45 meters.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Minimum of 50 logged dives including 10 Enriched Air/Nitrox dives, 12 dives deeper than 18m, 6 dives deeper than 30m.
  • Signed medical statement from a physician within past 12 months.
  • PADI Advanced Diver certification or equivalent,
  • PADI Rescue Diver certification or equivalent,
  • PADI Deep Diver Specialty certification or equivalent,
  • PADI Enriched Air/Nitrox Diver certification or equivalent,
  • PADI Tec 40 certification or equivalent

PADI Tec 45 Course – Details:

During the three days of the PADI Tec 45 course, Tec 40 divers will be introduced to the first stages of accelerated decompression diving. Certified Tec 45 divers are qualified to make multi-stop deco dives that employ oxygen for accelerated decompression to a depth of 45m.

The course not only develops the knowledge and skills to make open circuit technical dives as deep as 45 meters but also begins developing the knowledge and skills the diver will need at the Tec 50 level and beyond.

The course can be completed either on double cylinders with manifold (Twinset), or if the diver is already a qualified sidemount diver, the course can be conducted on sidemount.

The Tec 45 course consists of three knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions, and four training dives and uses the same Tec Deep Diver manual as used in the Tec 40 course, with the addition of a Tec 45 Handout and additional knowledge reviews.

During the course you will:

  • Dive in either the standardized back-mounted technical rig or in a sidemount configuration
  • Learn to safely plan and complete decompression dives whilst using a single decompression cylinder
  • Begin to complete accelerated decompression dives using up to 100% oxygen

PADI Tec 50 Course – Details:

The PADI Tec 50 course is the final stage of the DSAT Tec Diver course and introduces Tec 45 divers to the first stages of full technical deep decompression diving. Certified Tec 50 divers are qualified to make multi-gas, multi-stop decompression dives using air, nitrox, and oxygen with up to two gases for accelerated decompression. The Tec 50 course extends the training you completed as a Tec 45 diver with more complex dive planning expanding existing skills and with an added emphasis on mission planning and execution.

Kiwidivers can run the Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 as a combined Tec Deep course over an 8-9 day course from our Phuket-based Technical Diver training facility where we teach Tec from beginner levels through to Tec Instructor levels.

The course goals:

  • To ensure mastery of the motor skills required for open circuit tec diving.
  • To assure the diver understands, acknowledges and accepts the hazards and risks involved with technical deep diving with open circuit scuba to 50 metres.
  • To provide the foundation skills for further training in technical diving and Trimix diving

As a Tec 50 diver you will be able to dive to depths beyond recreational diving. you can dive wrecks or reefs that most divers cant get to and see marine life that other divers dont get to see. It will have taken a lot time and training to achieve this goal but once you are hear it is time to enjoy it.

At Kiwidivers, we focus on core skills that will allow you to dive to these depths safely and confidently as part of a dive team. The skills will be the foundation of your future training as you go onto the next level of Trimix diving to go even further from where regular divers dive.

Talk to us today about your training goals, and let us help you make a plan on how to become a PADI Tec Deep Diver.

PADI Tec Deep Diver Course

The PADI Tec Deep Diver is the combination of PADI Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50 courses run concurrently to allow for a smooth transition from beginner to competent Technical diver. The course takes 8 or 9 training days, and there is a possibility of gaps in between. The course is run at the student’s pace and sometimes will require additional days to reach each level. Weather and dive site availability also can play a part in the schedule, as we are particular about the dive sites we use and weather conditions.

The combined course can be completed either on back-mounted doubles with manifold, or if the diver has already done a recreational sidemount diver course then they may choose to use sidemount for the course. At Kiwidivers, we have both doubles and dedicated left / right valve sidemount cylinders available for use on the course.

At Kiwidivers, we have several Technical Instructors with a wide range of diving backgrounds. As a PADi 5 Star Instructor Development Center, you can be sure of genuine PADI Tec Courses from beginner levels right through to Instructor levels, including Tec Instructor Courses. We also do a range of both recreational rebreather and technical CCR courses.

As with all courses from Kiwidivers, we guarantee high-quality training. When it comes to certification to a certain level, although we do our best to help you achieve your training goals, certification is earned through achieving performance requirements. Some people will need more time or dives than others to meet performance requirements.
